Last week iOS 9, Apple's next-gen mobile software, became available to iPhone and iPad users. There was supposed to be another software launch that day, too: watchOS 2 for Apple Watch. However, a technical bug delayed the launch of watchO2 last week. Apple wouldn't say exactly what this bug was, just that it was minor and that it's likely not something that users of watchOS 2 would have noticed or experienced. Still, the company held off on releasing the software to the public — until today.

The watchOS 2 for the Apple Watch has now started rolling out. The new release comes with a lot of new things built-in, perhaps the most important being that apps can run natively, which means they are able to load faster and come with more features. watchOS 2 apps can also expose complications so you can have third-party app data on your watch faces for the first time. Apps are now able to use the Taptic engine, the digital crown, accelerometer, heart rate sensor, speaker, and microphone too.
watchOS 2 includes several new clock faces to further customize your Apple Watch and make it your own — Timelapse, Photo Album and Photo. There are also some new features for existing watch faces including an assortment of new tint colors. There's also a new Time Travel feature for viewing past and upcoming events in a watch face Complication, and a Nightstand mode that's activated when the watch is charging, displaying the time.
To install watchOS 2, first update your iPhone to iOS 9, then open the Watch app and check for updates. You should see the new software appear and have the update to upgrade.
