Asus ZenWatch is now available in Bangladesh for 20,500 taka

More and more SmartWatches are cropping up every month, making it harder for new ones to stand out from the increasingly crowded space. The Asus ZenWatch was a surprise when it was first announced, considering Asus wasn't a company expected to enter the wearables world. The first teased images of the ZenWatch were enough to intrigue the wariest wearable-fatigued fans, because of its surprisingly attractive design.

Once released, the price of $199 (£199/AU$252) added to the appeal, though it hasn't caused a huge stir in the wearables world like the Apple Watch did. But it was promising from start. The watch itself is thinner than most other SmartWatches, and though the ZenWatch is bigger overall than the Pebble Steel. It’s still closer in size to a large men’s watch than a unisex design, so those with smaller wrists might still find it too large.

Asus ZenWatch review

Like the Samsung Gear Live and LG G Watch, the ZenWatch has a square display. But the frame around the display is judiciously rounded, and the top even has a slight curve to it, softening the watch’s appearance. The screen is a 1.63-inch, 320 x 320 pixel AMOLED panel, with good viewing angles and acceptable brightness levels. There’s a single button on the underside of the watch to power it on and quickly access the Settings menu, but it’s not really designed to be used often.

The back also has a sort of emergency power button that you'll probably never actually use, and you'll find the gold contacts for the charging dock here back there as well. There's also a reminder that the ZenWatch is water-resistant — IP55 to be precise.

The ZenWatch feels like a capable SmartWatch that doesn't lag behind in any significant way, but doesn't particularly push the category forward either. The wearable world is evolving rapidly, with both manufacturers and shoppers still figuring out exactly what a SmartWatch should be. In Bangladesh you have to pay 20,500 taka ($260) to be an owner of Asus ZenWatch which is quite a lot. Nit everything depends upon you.
