Android Wear SmartWatches will get Android 6.0 Marshmallow in coming months

If you own an Android Wear smartwatch and are wondering if and when it will get Android 6.0 update, here is some good news: Google's latest OS update will be coming to all Android Wear smartwatches in "coming months". The API 23 SDK which is Marshmallow-based already began to launch on Android Wear devices. Google said that Android Wear smartwatches will receive the API 23 via an over-the-air (OTA) update. Currently, Android Wear watches are running API 22.

The company also revealed that the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE - which debuted last month and went up for pre-orders this month - already runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow for Android Wear, making it the first Android Wear smartwatch to do so.

Among the new things that Marshmallow for Android Wear is bringing, we must mention a new app permissions model, speaker support, and support for Intel x86 processors. The recently released TAG Heuer Connected being the first to use such a processor.
