This isn’t Samsung’s Gear watch, but rather a model manufactured by Chinese phone and wearable maker Otium. A new one just showed up on Amazon a few days ago in the form of the Otium Gear Smartwatch, and it will only set you back $60 bucks. That is seriously cheap if you’re looking to try out your first smartwatch, and it’s not a bad looking wearable either. The Otium Gear Smartwatch easily brushes past its competition with its overall quality and price. The design makes it quite a head turner as well.
It comes jam-packed with useful features to make your smartphone experience easier and more convenient. The alloy bodied watch get’s a color display and, comfortable rubber wrist strap and will work with iOS, Android and Blackberry phones. This smartwatch uses Bluetooth version 3.0 and is compatible with all previous versions. It uses the MTK6260 CPU which is fast and reliable enough for this type of devices and uses GSM 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 frequency networks.
Interestingly the Otium Gear doesn’t actually need a smartphone to be fully operation and in fact has space for SIM slot and a simple camera. The device has a 128MB RAM and 64MB ROM and can support up to 32GB external memory TF card. A build in 380mAh battery is claimed to give up to 80 hours of standby and 90 minutes of continuous talktime. The battery can easily last for days without charging even with prolonged use.
The device also has an anti-theft feature that will activate as soon as your smartphone immediately goes out of range from the Otium.
