One of the biggest issues that wearable brands are facing these days is how to stick them onto the human body without it looking like you're a massive tech nerd. Smartwatches sort of address the issue, but they're still mostly behemoths on the wrist compared to your day-to-day timepieces. So how do you create something that will give you the fitness data many people crave, but somehow stay invisible? Samsung's new wearable range aims to solve that problem, going down the modular route that many other manufacturers have taken.

In addition to introducing us to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge at MWC 2016, Samsung also unveiled the 'Charm', The Samsung Charm is an accessory for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge that's designed to look like an actual piece of jewlery while also integrating basic fitness tracking capabilities. Unlike a smartwatch, which is designed to show complex information on their (usually OLED) displays, the Charm uses a small LED to show notifications from the connected handset. One of the reasons Samsung thinks the gadget would do well in the market, could be its design, which seems more like a fashionable tech accessory that looks better than numerous other trackers.
The Charm is also a basic fitness tracker. It can count your steps, measure the distance you have walked and convert this to calories. The data, of course, can be fed to S Health. The charm is equipped with a 17 mAh battery pack, which is said to last for up to 18 days on a single charge.

Most basic fitness trackers in the market do that including Xiaomi's Mi band, which has had incredible sales thanks to its sub $20 price tag. Like the Mi band, Charm also needs to be paired to the Samsung Charm app to connect to the Galaxy S7-series phones via Bluetooth.
Unfortunately, there is no word on the 'Charm's pricing or availability , which is rarely a good sign. But Samsung has the courtesy of knowing us the color and shape of the device. It will comes in two versions, rectangular and square-shaped, with three color options — Rose Quartz, black and gold.
